Bakery
Sourdough, croissants, pastries, and seasonal breads — all baked fresh each morning. We don't freeze, reheat, or rush. If it's on the shelf, it came out of the oven today.
Columbus, Ohio
A neighborhood bakery and pantry on Dierker Road, where every loaf is shaped by hand and every shelf is stocked with things we'd actually keep in our own kitchen.
About Us
The Henderson House sits on a quiet stretch of Dierker Road — the kind of place that doesn't need a neon sign to be found. What we do is simple: bake bread the long way, stock a pantry we'd be proud to shop at ourselves, and treat everyone who walks through the door like a neighbor.
Everything here is made in small batches. Our croissants are laminated by hand. Our sourdough ferments overnight. The jars on our shelves are things we've tasted, approved, and decided are worth keeping around.
What We Do
Sourdough, croissants, pastries, and seasonal breads — all baked fresh each morning. We don't freeze, reheat, or rush. If it's on the shelf, it came out of the oven today.
Olive oils, vinegars, spices, preserves, pasta, and the kind of staples that make weeknight cooking feel a little less like a chore. Things we'd keep in our own kitchen.
Cakes for birthdays, loaves for dinner guests, or a curated box of pantry favorites for a gift. Call ahead and we'll make it happen — no question too small.
Our Story
The Henderson House didn't appear overnight — literally. It grew out of a conviction that Columbus deserved a place where bread was treated as something worth waiting for, and where a grocery store felt more like a well-read bookshelf than a warehouse.
We started with a sourdough starter, a second-hand mixer, and a lot of failed loaves. Now we're here — still shaping every batch by hand, still turning down suppliers whose standards don't match ours, still opening the door to the same street every morning with the same hope: that someone walks in and finds exactly what they didn't know they were looking for.
"The best ingredient isn't a trick. It's time — and the willingness to use it."
